The brief
A concept for a boutique hotel on the seafront promenade of Paphos, the city of Aphrodite on the west coast of Cyprus. The building had to feel light and resort-like, give every room an outdoor terrace and stand out on the coastal road.
The design
The hotel is split into two mirrored wings joined by a curved central core with the staircase and lifts. The core pulls back from the street like a wave, opening a sculpted gap between the wings and framing the entrance below.
Each floor wraps around the building as a deep balcony with soft rounded corners. Vertical white fins give shade and privacy, warm timber soffits light up at night, and planters on every level spill greenery down the facade. The ground floor is raised on columns to leave room for parking and a shaded arrival area lined with palms.
Palette and materials
White render, slender white aluminium fins, natural wood soffits, frameless glass balustrades, dark stone base and Mediterranean planting with palms and bougainvillea.
Scope
Architectural concept, facade design and 3D visualization (day and night).
